Spanish Recipes at the Source

Spanish recipes, a sort of do-it-yourself guide to one of the world’s most recognizable, tasty, and healthful cuisines, are one of the top food-related searches on the Internet.  And why not?  From hearty paella to the winning vanilla- and caramel lusciousness of flan, many Spanish recipes can be replicated, if in modified form, at home.

While some traditional Spanish food may seem a bit off-putting to outsiders – we’re looking at you, tripe – many of the dishes enjoyed in Spain are pretty common throughout Europe, the USA, and the rest of the world.  And given the fierce regional pride that exists in Spain, the cuisine shows both local influences and exotic ingredients, influenced by Moorish rule and exploration of new lands.

So where should you go to find the true flavors of Spanish cuisine?  In this case, go doesn’t mean “point with your mouse and click”.  We mean go, as in pack up your bags and jump in a plane, train, or automobile.  And, of course, bring your appetite for new experiences, new cultures, and a new approach to cooking.  At Good Food Europe, a web site devoted to all things culinary and travel, we’ve put together several inviting ideas for Spanish food enthusiasts that go beyond a dry list of recipes.  Ever wanted to experience real European gourmet food but not sure where to start? We’ve narrowed down our recommendations of the top food cities, authentic cooking schools in Spain, signature Spanish dishes, and even an itinerary that highlights the differences in food and culture between Spain and some of its European neighbours.

Cooking Spanish recipes at home is one way to introduce yourself to this time-honored cuisine.  But do try to expand your horizons – if possible, by collecting authentic recipes via your own travel to a great European travel spot and culinary capital.
